Alena Paskhina's residence
Alena Paskhina is a multimedia artist living and working in Moscow. She is a graduate of the HSE Art and Design School's Master's program. She has participated in group and solo exhibitions and is a resident artist at the Piranesi Lab experimental printing laboratory.

Most of Alena's works feature stories about the imprint as a trace of interaction. While maintaining a focus on printmaking, the artist often turns to other mediums (photography and embroidery), incorporating the process of image transfer, which, in her opinion, captures the fragile and elusive here and now.

"The project was conceived as a series of textile sketches of the city. A visitor's view of the city from within. As the work progressed, the focus shifted to one large canvas—a city panorama—in which I tried to convey my attitude toward the history and culture of Nizhny Novgorod, as a precious find that you don't carry in your pocket, but admire on the spot, hoping to encounter again."

The artistic method used to create the canvas was based on the adaptation of translucent embroidery. To capture the character of the city as a living organism, rather than a collection of landmarks, Alena decided to use stitching and layering materials, images, textures, and colors. The focus here is on layering, the translucence of materials, and the blending of embroidery with graphics, penetrating stitching strokes, and drawing lines.
