Gallery 9B is a contemporary art gallery in Nizhny Novgorod, the first institutional art residence in the city. It has been operating since 2018, its founders are art collectors Georgy Smirnov and Elena Talyanskaya. This is a cozy two-story space in a brick building built in the pre-revolutionary era. It is located in the center of Nizhny Novgorod, in its historical part, not far from the pedestrian street Bolshaya Pokrovskaya. Nearby is the Sverdlov Square - one of the main public places in the city, where festivals, concerts, film screenings, parties, flea markets and art events are regularly held.
On its site, the Gallery presents exhibitions created jointly with other galleries, its own original projects and projects created as part of art residences. In the fall of 2023, the Gallery Workshop project 9B was launched, in which young Nizhny Novgorod artists took part. Regular participant of contemporary art fairs such as Cosmoscow (2024), Kontur (2023, 2024), blazar (2023, 2024). Since 2024 - member of the Association of Galleries (AGA).
The gallery is an art platform for communication, collaboration and experimentation. Its main objectives are to support young artists, as well as to introduce the Nizhny Novgorod public to trends in Russian contemporary art through collaborations with galleries and artists from other cities.
