Marat Morik "Weaknesses"
RuArts Gallery and 9B Gallery present Marat Morik's exhibition "The Weaknesses". It includes the artist's works created over the past two years. Previously, the exhibition was presented at the RuArts gallery in Moscow.

Marat Morik is one of the world's most famous Russian street wave artists, a constant participant in major international street art festivals in Spain, France, Italy, Denmark, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Canada, USA, China.

Marat was born in 1982 in the Novosibirsk Academgorodok. From early childhood he became interested in drawing and studied the basics of painting at an art school. Later he received two higher educations: philological and economic at Novosibirsk State University, however, he completely and completely connected his activities with the visual arts.

Now Marat actively collaborates with street art galleries around the world, and also creates large-scale works on the walls. Experience in creating large-scale murals enriched his artistic method: in the works of Morik, a strong influence of the school of monumental art can be traced.

Marat Morik pays a lot of attention to details and textures, mixes techniques and materials. If earlier he worked mainly with acrylic and aerosol cans, which allowed him to create a gradient and the necessary texture, now the author prefers oil.

«Oil can replace everything, it gives both texture and the possibility of different effects. I study and experiment all the time. Oil is a priority now. The most effective combination of acrylic and oil - undercoating with acrylic, then working with oil».

Morik's multi-layered works contain both figurative subjects and abstract compositions; his collage method allows him to boldly combine different techniques and techniques. Marat rarely creates series, the works are not related to one another by the same theme, as a rule, these are impressions of past experience. He works a lot with archives, combining in his works photographs from the crime reports of America of the 50-60s, interesting plots and situations he saw in everyday life. From these pieces Marat creates works like a designer.

«I like to collect fictional plots from randomness that I get from the real world».

In "The Weaknesses" the artist touches upon such topics as human vulnerability and weakness. He examines these concepts from different angles, looks for beauty in them, but when he stumbles upon their "ugliness", "ugliness", he experiences a special thrill and interest.

«Aging, envy, aggression, loneliness, failure, madness - all this is the soundtrack to my paintings. I do not want to directly evoke any emotion, I just want to intrigue. My task is to immerse the viewer in an atmosphere of anxiety and make him a witness».
