Since September 12, artist Ivan Gorshkov has been working in Gallery 9B. We remind you that his residence was also implemented as part of the regional art residency program with the support of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the Center 800.
The result of the residency was a painting series presented at the exhibition "Elephant Painter" in Gallery 9B. In it, the artist uses the technique of the eponymous character from Sergei Mikhalkov's fable, creating an overlay of disparate plots and techniques. But unlike the unlucky elephant, he does this consciously and methodically, calling his method "Generator of Happy Accidents."
Ivan is engaged in understanding the cultural codes of our time, calling this process "the search for a crystal of the purest craze." He works in different techniques, but sculpture occupies a significant proportion of his works. Strives to expand the palette of techniques as much as possible and uses ready-mades. He considers endless rework ("find and improve") to be the basis of his artistic strategy. An important part of this strategy is also the search for successful coincidences, building a chain of circumstances necessary for a new situation at work ("lucky coincidence generator").
